Leave the plane
in the hangar.
Are you going on vacation? Try travelling without an airplane. You will save the same amount of emissions the average European generates in a few months. And that's a great feeling!
There is an increasing amount of trains and other comfortable connections to attractive destinations in Europe, often for great prices. If you don't exactly enjoy travelling by train, travelling by car with several people is also better than flying.
A flight around Europe releases 122 grams of carbon dioxide for every kilometer. Two people travelling by car will release 86 grams. Trains are the best option: they only produce 6-41 grams of carbon dioxide for every kilometer depending on the type of train. (2)
